The brief

The Carpe Diem boutique, wishing to mark its 40th anniversary over the festive season, contacted us after an initial Advent-calendar project. The goal: to design a striking visual installation on the façade — festive, elegant and respectful of the building. The system had to allow fitting without drilling, without hindering the view from the flats above, and be operable from street level.

The need

We suggested working through a detailed project sheet to frame expectations properly. This phase helped clarify:

  • The desire for a "wow" effect visible from the street.
  • The use of a gift-parcel format, with removable numbers.
  • A mixed design: wood (MDF) + 3D printing for the decorative elements.
  • The possible integration of a manual opening system from ground level, and an optional lighting system.

Framing the need with a project sheet

An in-depth discussion allowed us to build a clear project sheet, covering:

  • A coherent design for 3 modules
  • The materials: MDF for the structure, 3D printing for the ribbons, handles and numbers
  • The drill-free mounting constraints, using straps and anti-tipping systems
  • The scope for future evolution (adding visual or lit content)

Creating the realistic render

From the project sheet, a photorealistic AI render was generated to project the final result onto the façade. This visual served:

  • to validate the position and volume of the modules
  • to win over stakeholders visually
  • to anticipate the effects of colour, texture and legibility

3D modelling of the project

A complete model was produced from the validated elements:

  • The design of an opening module measuring 70×75 cm, with hinged doors, handles and latches
  • Interchangeable numbers on the front, with a magnetic or screw-fixed system
  • The possible integration of decorative internal content
  • A reserved location for an optional LED strip
