The brief

Following the success of the giant advent calendar installed in their window, the Carpe Diem Bijoux shop was approached by several loyal customers who wanted to buy a calendar they could fill themselves and use every year. The request was therefore for a reusable, elegant and practical model, to be produced in a small batch. For our part, we chose to offer the design and manufacture of the first unit, as a thank-you for the trust placed in us across several successive projects.

The need

The challenge was to design an object that was:

  • Reusable year after year, sturdy and well finished
  • Customisable, to fit the graphic world of different shops
  • Easy to fill, with drawers large enough
  • Aesthetically flattering, in keeping with a jewellery shop

Our goal

We wanted to offer an inspiring pilot product that was at once:

  • Gifted to Carpe Diem Bijoux, to thank them for their loyalty and strengthen our collaboration (giant calendar 2024, shopfront decorations 2025),
  • Tested in real conditions, to anticipate the production needs of other shops,
  • Reproducible in small batches, adapting the artwork, dimensions or finishes to each request.

Designing the prototype

The design phase unfolded in several stages:

  • Listening to customer feedback: Carpe Diem Bijoux had received many requests from customers wanting to own an advent calendar for personal use, inspired by the giant model used in the shop.
  • Defining the format: we opted for a book-shaped model, opening via two leaves thanks to concealed hinges.
  • Choice of materials and technologies: a structural base in 3D printing (sturdy, reproducible, adjustable),
  • Decorations in laser-cut and engraved wood, over 3 layers to create a sense of depth,
  • The option to add a string of lights at the top for a festive effect.

Manufacturing and assembling the calendar

Once the prototype was approved, we began manufacturing all the parts:

  • 3D printing: the calendar's main structure,
  • 24 individual drawers,
  • Internal cradles shaped to hold the wooden decorations.

Outcome and outlook

This project was a great opportunity for us to explore a fully customisable format, blending 3D printing, laser engraving and bespoke assembly. We enjoyed imagining an elegant, reusable object suited to different shop worlds, while taking care over every detail: proportions, choice of materials, modularity, finishes… This first unit was gifted to Carpe Diem Bijoux to thank them for their trust and loyalty. After the giant calendar in 2024 and then the shopfront decorations in 2025, this project marks a lasting relationship built around creative and technical projects. The parcel will soon be dispatched, carefully packaged, so it can be displayed in the shop or serve as the basis for a personalised offer to their customers.

A branded object, made to be reused

A 24-drawer calendar, designed to last and be reused every year. 3D printing creates loyalty objects that carry the shop's image.
